A Glimmer of Hope

A Glimmer of Hope is helping some of the poorest people on Earth lift themselves out of poverty.

By listening to the needs of the rural poor in Ethiopia, partnering with local resources and each community, A Glimmer of Hope has turned the traditional model of aid and development in Africa upside down. Its endowment ensures 100% of all donations are used to provide clean water, health care, education and microfinance (small loans made to women entrepreneurs and farmers).

Since 2000, A Glimmer of Hope has completed more than 4,000 projects including a major hospital rehabilitation, health clinics, schools, wells, irrigation systems and veterinary clinics.  It has also provided more than 6,500 microfinance loans.  In total, the lives of over 2 ½ million people have been improved.  Join us and be part of the journey from poverty to prosperity, www.aglimmerofhope.org.

In November 2009, Barron’s magazine recognized the effectiveness of giving through A Glimmer of Hope when it ranked its founders Philip and Donna Berber 6th on the list of the world’s 25 Best Philanthropists.

“When the Berber’s A Glimmer of Hope digs a well and provides clean water to an Ethiopian Community, people’s lives are improved immediately and critically,” said Barron’s.
